"Got You Some" holiday get down featuring the Herbsaint Band

  • Marz Brewery 3630 South Iron Street Chicago, IL, 60609 United States (map)

The Got You Some concept grew out of a series of private Cajun-themed dinners hosted by Chicago chef Chris Reed. A combination of traditional New Orleans food and music created a rarely accessible flavor in Chicago, and in 2017 local musician Hunter Diamond approached Reed with enthusiasm to expand the concept for the public.

The phrase “Got you Some” comes from a song written and recorded by famed New Orleans soprano saxophonist Sidney Bechet and the notorious Chicago-born clarinetist Mezz Mezzrow. Already a perfect combination of Chicago and New Orleans spirit, the song conveys a feeling of inclusiveness and abundance: got you some food, got you some drink, got you some music, what more could you need!

In addition to creating a great atmosphere of Crescent City energy in Chicago, Got You Some also aims to further connect the concentric circles of artists and creators across the city. The inaugural event took place at Experimental Sound Studio, a non-profit recording studio, venue, and visual gallery located in the Ravenswood Neighborhood. For the next installment, Got You Some will be partnering with Marz Brewery, The Green Star Project, and many local artists and craft-makers to create an all-encompassing New Orleans holiday get-down.
