In celebration of Carnival season, the Creole aficionados at Bumbu Roux will be leading a parade of New Orleans-inspired specials and events, bringing all the warmth and spirit of The Big Easy straight to the heart of Chicago. The revelry kicks-off in grand style Friday, February 21 with live music, and festivities continue on through Fat Tuesday on February 25.
Chef Chris Reed of Bumbu Roux learned to cook the rich cuisine of the South from his father, who grew up in Napoleonville, Louisiana. For this Mardi Gras celebration, Reed will expand upon the Creole staples—gumbo, red beans and rice, and fried catfish—that he serves each week at Bumbu Roux, rolling out specials like crawfish etouffee, creole poutine, and King Cake Cupcakes.
Mardi Gras kick-off party featuring live music by Herbsaint from 5-8pm. The Herbsaint trio revives early New Orleans traditional and dixieland jazz, performing the works of Sidney Bechet, Johnny Dodds, Louis Armstrong, and more.
