I’ve spent the last three years investigating the history and energy of the saxophone and drum duo, and with "Metal and Wood" (a month-long recording residency at Wicker Park's Bordel), I will explore the possibilities of this instrumental pairing with four of Chicago's most prominent improvising drummers: Mike Reed, Dana Hall, Charles Rumback, and Quin Kirchner. Each performance will be recorded live with the intention of releasing a compilation album that features not only these four drummers, but also others in Chicago, New Orleans, and Florida.

Night one features Dana Hall who was my primary teacher and mentor during my graduate studies at DePaul University.
